hey!

here is a sneak look at several pieces i am creating for voltage this year…prepare your self.

my theme evolves around the midwestern pioneer women and all their bad ass-ness. think annie oakley and clamity jane given the attire they deserve for being so fantastic. fashions from their era were obviously simple, practial and rather mundane (and you will surely see elements of this pulled in to my line.) i could not help but think of how amazing everything these women stood behind and everything that stood in front of them was…just how so phenominally bad ass they were…this is exactly what i was trying to capture in my collection. i threw in a heavy metal, punk rock edge because i believe they visually deserve that. with a rifle strung around one arm and a baby on their hip, these women helped lay down the foundations for what now today is our country.

Cliche’ will be holding an open house for local designer Arwyn Birch, whose new Spring 2008 styles will be featured. Details on the flyer above and on the Cliche’ website.

Hair and makeup stylists as well as a choreographer are being sought by the organizers of the 2008 College of St. Catherine Fashion show Katwalk: Dress Files (they are set for models). Read on for details…

Diva Minnesota’s Club Diva 2008 was a huge success, both in raising tens of thousands of dollars to support HIV/AIDS programs in Minnesota, and as a glam bash featuring live performances and runway fashion from Twin Cities designers including Pather Yang, Hazel Matthys, Ivan Idland, Taissa Lada, Tanya Thomas- Schaefer, Jason Hammberg, Michele Henry (one of her designs pictured at left), along with Jack Mackenroth of Project Runway fame.

Spring fashion from the Joynoëlle and Monique Lhuillier lines will hit the runway Sunday March 9th at the new Ivy Hotel, and a trunk show will accompany the runway fashion show.

Last fall Heimie’s Haberdashery proved that retail can thrive in downtown St. Paul by expanding into a huge new space formerly occupied for decades by Bockstruck Jewelers.
